Research Interests:
Mono- and bi-metallic nanoparticles, catalysis, graphene, chemical hydrogen storage, applications of bimetallic nanoparticles as catalysts in organic reactions.
B. Major Subjects of Interest: Transition metal nanoparticles: Synthesis and characterization of monometallic and multimetallic alloy or core-shell nanoparticles and their catalytic applications. Catalysis: Application of heterogeneous catalysts in various organic and inorganic catalytic reactions. Catalytic reactions: Hydrolysis of sodium borohydride, hydrolysis, methanolysis and dehydrogenation of ammonia-borane, formic acid dehydrogenation, Suzuki-Miyaura and Heck cross-coupling reactions, hydrogenation of olefins and arenes, oxidation of alcohols and dihydroxylation of olefins. Chemical Kinetics: Detailed reaction kinetics of various catalytic reactions Graphene: Chemical route to synthesis of graphene and its use as catalyst support for transition metal nanoparticles. Nanocomposites: Preparation and characterization of different types of novel nanocomposites.
